While I was cleaning it after installation, I discovered a sliver had come off the underside. This is it. It's cheaper than the solid wood models because I believe it is made of a composite-wood material with a wood grain veneer. So, it's a bit thinner and lighter than a solid wood seat, but it also won't split or crack. Overall, it looks really good, has metal hinges and mounting hardware (except for mounting nuts which are plastic), it's sturdy and it sits well.
